ALL BECAUSE OF A DRESS...AND LOVE

When Kat and Jarrod came into meet with me the first time, she was absolutely intent on being pragmatic and interested in having a nice day but simple and without pomp.

Fast forward to her leave the dressing room at Gown Boutique of Charleston and stepping into the mindset of someone who just realized she was a bride, for real. Her head to toe lace number could not have been more her- with its simple silhouette and classic lace she was a vision, and, just like that, it was happening.

Her realization of forever ahead of her, coupled with the realization that she had an excellent groom in Jarrod, who had us arrange an entire surprise spa day to finish out said gown shopping (best groom ever), led to the realization that she, like all of us, was in love, and truly excited about celebrating that for a day with everyone she loved.

We kept things clean, because why compete with an uninterrupted view of the intracoastal? These outdoorsy animal lovers had such a comfortable elegance about them, their wedding needed to reflect that.

A soft palette of greys, whites and ivories with a little lavender tucked in for interest. Tulips, Kat’s absolute fave were tucked in everywhere, and it was such a fun contrast to the welcome dinner the night before at Upstairs at Midtown.

At a place like the Island House, things to be airy and open to the beautiful surroundings! We added a nice “porch” for the view in the form of a pergola with inset lighting so nothing inhibited the views of the flawless sunset.

Fur baby Freya made an appearance for some pics, and the unbelievable lace on the gown inspired the adornments on the delicate Delicious Desserts cake.

Our advice here is to have the day that you want. If you find your mind changing or things evolving as you go down the planning road, let it happen! The smiles will abound because you allowed yourself the day you wanted as a couple, and you only get one, so love it!

From the pale papers to the voile over the pergola, the whole day felt light and relaxing.
