IT'S A SOUTHERN THING

Charleston is their favorite city. So where’s a better place to get married than one of the top cities in the US? Can you blame them?! Cammie, originally from Louisiana, and Joe, a native of Jersey, actually live in Maryland. It was a small wedding party- five total, not including the bride and groom. Their guests were also smaller in number, no more than forty. The save the dates were perfect – Charleston-themed and made to look like a postcard. It was a sweet, small, and personal affair.

Cammie wanted the flowers to have deep red hues with small inserts of blues, golden oranges, and peaches. It suited her beauty so well. She could charm the dew right off the honeysuckle! Joe’s zinnia boutonniere was simple yet elegant, to match the color scheme. He and his groomsmen looked cute as button in their wedding wear, styled by Charleston Tuxedo. They were married under an oak tree in the courtyard of the Confederate Home. Completely enclosed and shielded from the outside world, the spot is highly intimate.

The reception was held at Marion’s in the French Quarter. The space is open and inviting and ideal for the occasion. Tables were clothed with white linens with stripes of navy. Lined as centerpieces were gold votives and glass jars filled with some of the colors of the bride’s bouquet. The dessert table was to die for! They even had a “Treat Yoself” sign! Lord have mercy. Cupcakes, mini blueberry tarts, chocolate desserts, and of course the cake, adorned the table on gold stands. On the cake sat a wooden Louisiana and a wooden New Jersey. The Louisiana had a “C” and the New Jersey a “J.” Honoring their home states while becoming One in another- it was such a tender homage!

Everyone enjoyed themselves with food, drink, and Indie dance music throughout the night. Their menu consisted of Charleston-themed food as well, such as praline-crusted chicken! Yum! Later in the night for the “late night munchies,” mini chicken and waffle plates were served. The whole group of out-of-towners got many different tastes of Charleston food favorites! I’m more than confident everyone stuffed themselves full as a tick! These two peas in a pod ended the night in a sparkler-lit send off to yet another Charleston custom: a bike trolley! Now, Cammie and Joe (and their guests!) will always remember this beautiful city for more than just what it’s famously known for- it will be remembered for this. For Cammie and Joe’s union and Promise Place. And this makes it even more special. I reckon this city will be seeing them again! ;)
